Student and Parent Loans

PLEASE NOTE THAT ALL STUDENT LOANS MUST BE REPAID

Stafford loans are established and supported by the federal government, but a participating commercial lender, such as a bank or credit union, actually makes the loan. Interest rates for Stafford loans disbursed for new Stafford Loans are fixed at 6.8%. Students will begin repayment on Stafford Loans 6 months after their last date of attendance. Stafford Loans are available to all students who meet the financial aid eligibility requirements and are enrolled in a minimum of six (6) credits (half-time).
All student borrowers must complete a Loan Request Form. First time borrowers at RVCC must complete federally mandated Entrance Counseling and a Master Promissory Note (MPN). For additional information about Stafford loans and how to request one please refer to our Loan Information page.

Work Study

The Federal Work Study (FWS) Program is a federally funded, financial aid program designed to provide part-time employment for students with unmet financial need. Unlike other financial aid programs that are credited directly to the students account, Work Study must be earned by working at RVCC. All FWS positions at RVCC are on-campus; there are no off-campus positions available. FWS Students receive a bi-weekly payroll check like other part time student workers. The amount of your hourly wage & the amount of your work study allocation will determine how many hours you are allowed to work per semester. When the FWS allocation is reached, the student must stop working! RVCC receives a limited amount of FWS funds per fiscal year from the Federal Government. The Financial Aid Office monitors and administers this program. For more information on this program see our Student Employment page.

Other methods of paying for College

Students can pay for their classes with cash, personal check, or credit card. Raritan Valley Community College accepts Visa, MasterCard and Discover.
You may also want to consider using a payment plan through Sallie Mae for all of your charges or in conjunction with the financial aid that you receive. The Payment Plan is not a loan, so there are no interest charges. Sallie Mae assesses an enrollment fee of $45 per semester to a student enrolled in one of their payment plans. For more information on the payment plan option click here.
