17th Annual Paul Robeson Youth Achievement Awards The Paul Robeson Institute for Ethics, Leadership and Social Justice is pleased to announce the Seventeenth Annual Paul Robeson Youth Achievement Awards. The awards were established in 1990 to honor outstanding African American high school and middle school students who have excelled in the areas that Robeson gained prominence: Scholarship, the Arts, Community Services and Athletics. The Annual Awards are an opportunity for middle school and high school students to be applauded for their achievements. The Committee appreciates the commitment and contributions that you have made in making this event successful over the past decade. Once again, we solicit your assistance in taking a few moments to nominate students who are truly representative of the Robeson ideals. Those students who you nominate for achievement in scholarship should have a 3.5 or above grade point average, and for achievement in the Arts, Community Service and Athletics, a 3.0 or above GPA is required. Each student should be nominated in one category only. We would greatly appreciate it if you would complete the Nomination Form and return it to us with transcripts, supporting information, and an essay by Thursday, February 15, 2007. Please note that due to the additional materials required, submissions cannot be accept via email. The winners will be announced at a reception in the Conference Center at Raritan Valley on Thursday, March 29, 2007, 7:00 p.m. You are invited as our guest to join your nominee(s) at the Paul Robeson Youth Leadership Awards Reception and share in the recognition of these students and their families. The nominees will be given two (2) tickets to the reception; additional tickets are available at $15 each. I will be sending you a letter of invitation and confirmation that we received the students that you nominated for the Paul Robeson Youth Leadership Awards. If you have questions, please call (908) 526-1200, ext. 8524 or email Peppy Margolis. All
nominations must be received by no later than Thursday, February 15, 2007. |
