Tuesday May 25
Depart for overnight flight to Lima

Wednesday May 26
Arrive Lima and transfer for flight to Cusco
Transfer to hotel  Afternoon city tour including the Incan sites Sacsayhuaman, Kenko, and Tampumachay
Overnight Cusco

Thursday May 27
Begin travel to Machu Picchu with trip to Urubamba Valley.  Tour of Pisac Market and  Incan settlement of Ollantaytambo.

Friday May 28
Transfer to train station for ride through the Urubamba Valley to Machu Picchu.  Afternoon tour of the site- arguably the most spectacular settings in the world.

Saturday May 29
Day at leisure to explore the site and its many trails.  Optional tours will be arranged.

Sunday May 30
Morning at leisure to continue the exploration of the site.  Climb Wayna Picchu for a bird’s eye view of the site.  Afternoon train ride back to Machu Picchu.

Monday May 31
Early morning flight to Juliaca and transfer to Puno along the Peruvian side of Lake Titicaca.  Visit the lakeside native community of Uros .  B

Tuesday June 1
Early morning transfer to Copacabana a sacred site for both Incas and Catholics on Lake Titicaca.  Continue by hydrofoil to Huatajata with stops at Moon and Sun Islands–sacred places for the Inca from which according to legends their empire was founded. Visit to museum and observatory in Huatajata, a lakeside community.

Wednesday June 2
En route to La Paz, we stop to examine the peaks and glaciers along the Bolivian Altiplano.  Afternoon city tour of La Paz-the highest capital city in the world.

Thursday June 3
Tour of Tiwanaku via the Pan-American Highway considered by many archeologists the source from which Andean cultures sprang.  Tour also includes a tour of the local agricultural systems stemming from pre-Inca days.

Friday June 4
Transfer to airport for flight to Santiago.  Upon arrival transfer to hotel.  Balance of day at leisure

Saturday June 5
Morning tour of city including the main cathedrals, archeological museum and nearby mountains.

Sunday June 6
Morning departure for drive into the mountains to examine Andean geology and biotic communities in the nature sanctuary Cascada de las Animas.

Monday June 7
Tour of nearby El Morado National Park to continue the examination of Andean geology including glaciers and wildlife.

Tuesday June 8
Morning hike to the park entrance for return ride back to Santiago with stop at Colina Hot Springs

Wednesday June 9
Day at leisure.  Transfer to airport for overnight return to Newark or begin optional tour to Easter Island.   B

Thursday June 10
Arrive back in Newark
 You may elect to go on a 4 day/3 night extension to Easter Island beginning on June 9.
Fly to Easter Island and return back to Santiago to catch your overnight return flight to Newark on June 12.  You will arrive back to Newark on June 13.
