Our counselors are experts at devising a transfer plan that makes the most out of students' time and education at RVCC. Do grades count when transferring credits? To ensure a successful transfer a student needs to take the appropriate courses and achieve a "C" grade or better in each course for his or her intended major at a four-year school. Are RVCC graduates guaranteed admission to NJ four-year public institutions?According to state policy, graduates of approved transfer programs at RVCC are guaranteed admission to a New Jersey four-year public institution. Admission is guaranteed to a state college or university but not to a specific school. If students work closely with RVCC transfer counselors when selecting courses and achieve a competitive grade point average, they are likely to gain admission to the state college of their choice. What are "Articulation Agreements"?Articulation agreements are special arrangements between two colleges to facilitate seamless transfer of students. Some articulation agreements are focused on specialized majors, while others are general agreements involving any major available at a college. Which schools have articulation agreements with RVCC?To view a list of schools that have articulation agreements with RVCC, visit the RVCC transfer website, www.raritanval.edu/rvcc/frameset/transfer.html. For additional information, contact a transfer counselor. Are RVCC graduates guaranteed full junior status when they transfer?RVCC has dual admissions arrangements with many four-year institutions that guarantee admission with full junior status to students who satisfy the program's criteria. Contact an RVCC transfer counselor for a list of eligible majors and divisions. View a list of institutions that have dual admissions agreements with RVCC. How do I find out if an RVCC course will transfer to another NJ institution?RVCC participates in NJ Transfer, a computerized data information system created to facilitate the transfer of students from county colleges to New Jersey's four-year colleges and universities. NJ Transfer allows students and advisors at the institutions to ascertain the transferability status of any community college course. It indicates whether the course is transferable and, if so, indicates the receiving institution's equivalent course number. Recommended course selections for each major are also available. Several out-of-state colleges also maintain on their websites a transfer database of RVCC courses. What scholarship opportunities are available to RVCC students who transfer to a four-year school?Students who achieve a high grade point average have a wealth of scholarship opportunities available to them through Phi Theta Kappa (PTK), the honor society for community colleges. PTK members have received generous scholarships to The College of New Jersey, Rutgers University, Kean University and Drew University - just to name a few schools. Many colleges offer incentive scholarships for transfer students.
