RVCC Community Helps Those In Need During the Holidays

“If more students got involved with the different activities we do, that would be wonderful,” says Mary Sullivan, Director of Student life and Activities at Raritan Valley Community College.

The holiday season is here, and Raritan Valley seems to be doing lots of good for those less fortunate. The Make a Difference Team at RVCC is a group of students that are involved in activities that benefit the community. From Nov. 1 to Nov. 13, that group collected boxes of healthy cereal to donate to Homesharing’s Cereal Soiree. The cereal will go to families in need to help provide a complete meal during Thanksgiving and Christmas time.

The Alpha Epsilon Pi and Social Justice Club held a formal dinner to raise money to help stop the genocide that’s occurring in Darfur, Sudan. After the dinner, on Friday, Nov. 17 in the Grand Conference Center, there was a speaker, music, dancing, raffles, door prizes, and a short documentation on Darfur itself.

RVCC is also hosting an event called Operation: Christmas Child. The Campus Crusade for Christ student fellowship club collected items and shoe boxes that will be filled with toys and presents to give to less fortunate children around the world. Items donated included toys, school supplies and personal hygiene products.
