Matt DeBlass and Danielle Hobbs captured several First Place awards in the 2006 Better College Newspaper contest.

 
 

The Record: Top Two-Year College Paper


The Record took home four first-place awards in the 2006 Better College Newspaper Contest, including the award for General Excellence for a two-year college paper.

The Record also won an award for Best Layout and Design, and two individual first place awards: Danielle Hobbs in Opinion Writing and Matt DeBlass in Feature Writing. In addition, Carol Mellow took home second place in Feature Writing and Annette Novoa and Matt DeBlass received honorable mention for News Writing.

The awards were presented by the N.J. Newspaper Foundation at its spring convention on March 29. Entries were judged by current and former professional newspaper editors.

Dr. Jane Oates, executive director of the N.J. Commission on Higher Education was key-note speaker at the ceremony, in which both two and four-year college newspapers were recognized.
