RECORD CORRECTIONS

In the November issue of The Record, the article “Classroom Lectures Without the Classroom” unintentionally misrepresented two aspects of podcasting at RVCC: who produces the podcasts and what types of podcasts are available now. Following is the correct information:

Kelly Oliver, RVCC media specialist, produces college podcasts. She records and chooses all content for the podcasts. Amy Anderson, RVCC web developer, does not produce podcasts.

Oliver does not podcast course lectures at this time. The college plans to purchase new equipment that will soon make it possible to regularly record and podcast course lectures.

Right now, Oliver creates three major types of podcasts, all of which are accessible by clicking the orange XML|Podcast link at the bottom of the college home page: www.raritanval.edu.

Following are brief descriptions of the three types of feeds:

  • “Get to Know Us” features such information as open houses, college experience days, and other information for prospective and newly admitted students.
  • “Special Features” highlights special campus events and lectures such as science seminars, faculty development sessions, political science speakers, club events, and, most recently, the RVCC Student Music Recital.
  • “Vodcasts” (Video Podcasts) are video recordings of special feature events on campus. A recent vodcast was “Russia Rising: Challenges and Prospects with Dr. Boris Kagarlitsky.”
