The best student work of 2006-2007 will be recognized at the RVCC nota bene presentation and award ceremony on Dec. 4. The ceremony is being planned by students in Professor Christy Lamagna’s Events Planning and Meeting Management class.
Nota bene, which is Latin for “noteworthy,” is an annual program that honors superior student achievement across the curriculum. To be recognized as nota bene, outstanding student work is nominated by faculty and selected by judges in each area. The program began in 1985.
The nota bene ceremony is the central project for Lamagna’s students, who study marketing, planning, organizing, decorating and staging events.
Working as a team they created the event and will host it. They even coined the phrase that summarizes the theme for the event: “Celebrating the Power of Imagination.”
The evening will showcase honorees whose work during the 2006-2007 academic year in art, essays, research papers, dance, music, video and other fields “inspires others,” Lamagna said.
RVCC students, faculty and staff, and members of the larger community can view the work at a showcase in the Grand Conference Room from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 4. An awards reception will begin at 6 p.m. Admission is free.
“To be part of nota bene is an award in itself,” said Lamagna.
