RVCC SETS ONLINE AORN PERIOPERATIVE NURSING COURSE
The Allied Health department of Raritan Valley Community College?s (RVCC) Corporate & Continuing Education (CCE) division is offering an AORN Perioperative Nursing course. The 60-hour program, beginning Saturday, January 12, includes online study as well as hands-on practice in the classroom.
Participants will complete modules online at their own pace, and a series of practicum clinical class sessions/clinical labs will be held one Saturday per month for six Saturdays at Somerset Medical Center, Somerville. The practicum clinical class sessions/clinical labs will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on the following dates: January 12, February 23, March 22, April 19 and May 17.
The introductory program is geared toward RNs interested in a career in the operating room. The course includes theory, rationale and skills needed to provide safe patient care in the operating room.
Upon successful completion of the course (26 online modules, clinical practice and a passing grade on the final exam), a certificate from The Association of PeriOperative Registered Nurses (AORN) with contact hours will be awarded.
