The Theatre at Raritan Valley Community College (RVCC) in North Branch will present Seattle Children?s Theatre?s production of Addy: An American Girl Story , Saturday, February 9, at 7 p.m.

The production is part of the Theatre?s Family Series , specially designed for families with older children. The series, recommended for families with children ages eight and older, features performances ranging from spectacular acrobatics and physical comedy to lively percussion and classical ballet.

Addy Walker is a hopeful nine-year-old girl growing up in slavery during the Civil War. Her life changes forever when Poppa and her brother, Sam, are sold from their North Carolina plantation. Despite the terrible risks, Momma and Addy realize they must go on the run before they lose each other, too. Addy?s courage helps save her and Momma as they face the road to freedom. Building a new life in freedom isn't easy, and Addy desperately misses her loved ones. Through it all, Addy and Momma hold fast to their dream of having their entire family together again.

Tickets to the Family Series performances cost $20.

For the fourth year in a row, Courier News readers voted The Theatre at RVCC as the ?Best of the Best? in 2007 in the ?Playhouse/Theater? category.

In addition to the Family Series , the Theatre will present this season the Major Artists Series ; the 16th annual Merck Series , made possible by a generous grant from The Merck Company Foundation; School-Time Performances , a series for teachers and their students; and the Sampler Series , a series of transformational events for youngsters age four and older and their families.
