RVCC TO OFFER YOUTH ENRICHMENT PROGRAMS

The Corporate & Continuing Education (CCE) division at Raritan Valley Community College (RVCC) in North Branch is offering a variety of enrichment programs this winter for children ages 9-17. The following programs have been scheduled:

Algebra Review I: Students ages 13-17 are instructed in the areas of positive/negative rational numbers and order of operation. Participants solve linear equations and inequalities, graph points and lines, calculate the slope and determine equations of lines. The class will be held Saturdays, February 23 and March 1, from 10-11:30 p.m. The fee is $53.

Modern Manners for Boys: Students ages 9-16 learn that good manners give young gentlemen the opportunity to develop good habits and inspire self-confidence. The program teaches the importance of making good eye contact, handshaking, making introductions and engaging in polite conversation. The class will be held Saturday, February 23 from 9:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. for students ages 9-12 and from 1-4 p.m. for students ages 13-16. The fee is $55. Those attending are asked to bring a snack.

Speak Out! Public Speaking for Kids: Students ages 9-12 learn simple ways to organize their thoughts and become better speakers. The class will be held Saturdays, February 23 to March 8, from 9:30-11:30 a.m. The fee is $74.

Study Skills: Students ages 11-14 learn how to manage their time and personal space. They also learn how to improve their listening, note-taking, reading comprehension, memorization and test preparation skills. The class will be held Saturdays, February 23 to March 15, from 9:30-11 a.m. The fee is $74.
