The public is invited to learn more about Raritan Valley Community College?s (RVCC) Health Information Technology program and meet the new HIT instructor/coordinator Thursday, September 27, at 4:30 p.m. The event, which is free of charge, will be held in the Conference Center at the College?s North Branch Campus.

Ellen Shakespeare of Colts Neck, MBA, RHIA, has recently been appointed as the instructor/coordinator of RVCC?s Health Information Technology program. RVCC offers an Associate of Applied Science Degree in Health Information Technology and a Certificate in Health Information Technology ? Medical Coding.

According to the US Department of Labor, Health Information Technology is one of the 20 fastest-growing professions. The Department of Labor predicts that health information management and health information technology jobs are expected to grow 47 percent through 2012. RVCC established its Health Information Technology program in Fall 2006.

Shakespeare comes to RVCC with 30 years of experience in the health care industry. She has worked in hospitals in Florida, New York and New Jersey. She has an MBA with a Concentration in Health Administration from the University of Miami, Coral Gables, and a BS in Medical Record Administration from the University of Central Florida.
