RVCC DANCE COMPANY AVAILABLE FOR SCHOOL, COMMUNITY PERFORMANCES
Raritan Valley Community College (RVCC) in North Branch is providing opportunities for local community and educational organizations to gain a new appreciation for dance. The College?s dance ensemble is seeking out opportunities to perform before area schools and community groups for the 2007-2008 school year.
The Raritan Valley Dance Ensemble (RVDE) performances are suitable for schools/educational programs, as well as community groups such as senior citizen centers and community resource and recreation centers. The company?s mission is to provide performance and educational programs that foster the appreciation of dance as an art form. All performances for audiences in grades K-12 provide knowledge and/or skills related to several of the New Jersey Core Curriculum Content Standards. In addition, senior citizen centers, assisted living facilities, community centers, hospitals and non-traditional arenas are all part of the company?s community outreach efforts.
If you are interested in bringing RVDE to your school or community group, or if you would like to audition for RVDE, please contact Loretta Fois at 908-526-1200, ext. 8494.
Launched last fall, RVDE has performed for more than 3,000 audience members. The company is directed by Loretta Fois of Branchburg, a full-time dance instructor in the College?s Visual and Performing Arts Department.
RVDE, in conjunction with RVCC?s Visual and Performing Arts Department, strives toward establishing a bond between academia and community. RVDE dancers are selected by audition from among RVCC dance majors, students, alumni and community members. The company?s repertoire includes solos, duets and group works. In addition, most performances include some type of audience participation.
RVCC, located on Route 28 and Lamington Road in North Branch, NJ, and serving Somerset and Hunterdon County residents for close to 40 years, offers more than 80 associate degrees and certificates. In addition, customized training programs and non-credit courses are available for those seeking personal and professional development.
The College is committed to offering a quality and affordable education through effective teaching, liaisons with the community?s businesses and state-of-the-art technology. For further information, visit www.raritanval.edu .
