Dr. Paul J. Hirsch of Bridgewater has been named the new chairman of the Raritan Valley Community College (RVCC) Board of Trustees. The new chairman was elected to a one-year term during the Board?s reorganization meeting, held November 25 at the College?s North Branch Campus.

During the meeting, James B. Ventantonio of Bridgewater was elected vice chair from Somerset County. Dr. Catherine McVicker of Califon was chosen to continue serving as the vice chair from Hunterdon County. The terms for vice chairs are for one year.

Dr. Hirsch, a member of the RVCC Board of Trustees since 1986, previously served as a vice chair from Somerset County. Dr. Hirsch helped launch the establishment of the Institute for Holocaust & Genocide Studies at Raritan Valley Community College. He is a physician in Bridgewater specializing in Orthopedic Surgery and Sports Medicine, and is also chairman of the Edward J. Ill Excellence in Medicine Foundation.

?I am extremely honored to be elected the new chairman of the Board of Trustees at a time when the College is experiencing the rewards and challenges of record enrollment,? said Dr. Hirsch. ?RVCC is an outstanding institution and I promise to work very hard on behalf of the Board of Trustees and on behalf of the College to ensure the success of every student.?

Other one-year leadership positions approved during the meeting include:
Secretary: Dr. John L. McGuire (Stanton)
Assistant Secretary: Evelyn S. Field (Bridgewater)
Treasurer: Robert P. Wise (Clinton Township)
1st Assistant Treasurer: Shawn M. Clark (Branchburg)
2nd Assistant Treasurer: Dr. Frederic C. Sterritt (Neshanic Station)
