Raritan Valley Community College (RVCC) will present Pakistani author/historian Tariq Ali in a lecture and discussion on ?The Flight Path of American Power: from Israel/Palestine, the Middle East, to Afghanistan and Pakistan,? Wednesday, March 18, at 6 p.m. The free lecture will be held in the Conference Center at the College?s North Branch Campus.

The program is part of RVCC?s ?America?s Challenges in the Middle East? lecture series. The series was launched last fall with lectures by Daniel C. Kurtzer, a former U.S. Ambassador to both Egypt and Israel, and Barbara Bodine, former U.S. Ambassador to Yemen.

Tariq Ali is a London-based historian, playwright, journalist and filmmaker. The author of over 25 books, untold articles, producer of films and other projects, Ali has helped audiences gain an understanding of contemporary society?s vexing economic, political and social challenges. He is a regular contributor to The London Review of Books and The Guardian . Among his most significant books is The Clash of Fundamentalisms , his response to Samuel Huntington?s Clash of Civilizations .
