THE KITE RUNNER TO BE PRESENTED AT RVCC THEATRE

The Theatre at Raritan Valley Community College (RVCC) in North Branch will present Khaled Hosseini?s best-seller, The Kite Runner , Tuesday, May 19, at 12 and 7 p.m.

The production is part of the Theatre?s new series, Tuesdays with Stories , which features theatrical adaptations of significant American literature, performed by solo actors from The American Place Theatre (APT). The series is recommended for individuals age 14 and older.

The Kite Runner depicts a touching and dramatic portrayal of the difficult relationship between two boys?Amir, a privileged Pashtun, and Hassan, his Hazara servant?set against the tumultuous backdrop of 1970s Afghanistan. The Kite Runner will be performed by Sorab Wadia.

The presentation is being offered by APT?s Literature to Life Arts Education Program and has been adapted for the stage and directed by Wynn Handman. The performance will include a pre- and post-show discussion, as well as light snacks. Tickets cost $10 (12 p.m. show) and $20 (7 p.m. show).

For the fifth year in a row, Courier News readers voted The Theatre at RVCC as the ?Best of the Best? in 2008 in the ?Playhouse/Theater? category.

Aside from Tuesdays with Stories , the Theatre has presented this season the Major Artists Series ; the 17th annual Merck Series , made possible by a generous grant from The Merck Company Foundation; School-Time Performances , a series for teachers and students grades pre-K to 12; the Family Series , a series of events designed specially for families with older children; and the Sampler Series , a series of transformational events for children and their families.
