Raritan Valley Community College (RVCC) graduate Casey Maliszewski of Flemington has been awarded the prestigious Finch College Alumnae Association Foundation Grant. The award is presented to a successful community college student who is entering a four-year college. Maliszewski, who graduated from RVCC in May 2007, is transferring to Mount Holyoke College this fall.

While taking additional classes at RVCC this past year, Maliszewski also served as international president of Phi Theta Kappa, the international honor society for two-year colleges whose members excel in both academics and community service. Before serving as international president, Maliszewski held a variety of other leadership positions with the organization, including New Jersey state president for the Middle States Region and chapter president of RVCC?s Alpha Epsilon Pi Chapter. The Middle States Region consists of 76 community colleges throughout New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Delaware and Maryland.

?This generous scholarship will provide support for my educational and career aspirations, which I hope to devote to public service,? says Maliszewski, who plans to major in sociology and minor in political science at Mount Holyoke.

The Finch College Alumnae Association Foundation Grant is presented in honor of the late Dr. Margaret Maxwell, a former history professor at Finch College who strongly believed in educating young women to succeed and contribute to society.

RVCC, located on Route 28 and Lamington Road in North Branch, NJ, and serving Somerset and Hunterdon County residents for close to 40 years, offers more than 90 associate degrees and certificates. In addition, customized training programs and non-credit courses are available for those seeking personal and professional development.

The College is committed to offering a quality and affordable education through effective teaching, liaisons with the community?s businesses and state-of-the-art technology. For further information, visit www.raritanval.edu .
