RVCC CHORALE SLATES HOLIDAY CONCERT

The RVCC Chorale will perform its annual holiday concert Saturday, December 13, at 8 p.m. The performance will be held in the Welpe Theatre at Raritan Valley Community College?s North Branch Campus.

The Chorale is composed of current and former RVCC students, as well as members of the community. It is conducted by John Sichel, a full-time faculty member in the College?s Visual and Performing Arts Department.

The program will feature a performance of Benjamin Britten?s ?Ceremony of Carols,? for choir and harp, written in 1943. Britten, perhaps the greatest English composer of the 20th Century, wrote distinctive, original music to Christmas lyrics dating back to the Middle Ages for an exciting blend of old and (comparatively) new. The program also includes the luminous ?Ave Maria? by the great Renaissance composer Josquin Des Prez (1450-1521); holiday songs from around the world; and the Chorale?s traditional holiday carol sing-along.

The Chorale features sopranos Debbie Allen, Joanne Jacobs, Barbara Thornton, Jessica Iselin, Irena Reister, Rachel Coburn, Heather Keith and Stephanie Hornyak; altos Erica Kane, Anna Nierenberg, Jane Sausanauvage, Catherine Dayton and Ruth Dilley; tenors June Adams, Timothy Danner, Richard DeVany and Jesse Mazzariello; and basses Dan Keegan, Bruce McKillip, John Reimer, Joseph Pierrone, Estefan Higazi, Chris Idell, Christopher Birnbaum, Trevor Rokovsky and Peter Dodenhoff. The Chorale is accompanied on piano by RVCC adjunct faculty member Stephen Hudson.

General admission is $10, $5 for faculty, staff, students and seniors. For tickets, call 908-725-3420. For further information, call 908-218-8876.
