The Theatre at Raritan Valley Community College (RVCC) in North Branch will highlight a variety of international holiday celebrations with Quartetto Gelato?s presentation of Christmas Around the World , Friday, December 12, at 8 p.m. The evening is part of the 2008-2009 Major Artists Series . Tickets cost $27 and $32.

Experience reverence, melancholy and joy as the program celebrates Christmas in America, Italy, Spain, France, Germany and Israel. The program is inspired by the range of emotions that audiences feel at this time of year.

Quartetto Gelato has enchanted audiences worldwide with a blend of musical virtuosity, artistic passion and charismatic presence. This dazzling ensemble has established itself as a force on the ?new classical? scene by winning NPR Performance Today?s ?Debut Artist of the Year? in 1996. Today, the group continues to reign as an international sensation with repeat, sold-out performances throughout the globe.

For the fifth year in a row, Courier News readers voted The Theatre at RVCC as the ?Best of the Best? in 2008 in the ?Playhouse/Theater? category.

This season The Theatre at RVCC will present the Major Artists Series ; the 17th annual Merck Series , made possible by a generous grant from The Merck Company Foundation; School-Time Performances , a series for teachers and students grades pre-K to 12; the Family Series , a series of events designed specially for families with older children; and the Sampler Series , a series of transformational events for children and their families. The 2008-2009 season also includes a new series, Tuesdays with Stories , which features great American literature performed by solo actors from The American Place Theatre.
