The College for Working Adults at RVCC is a unique program designed for adults juggling work and family responsibilities who want to complete an Associate Degree as quickly as possible.
What degrees are being offered by the College for Working Adults?
The College for Working Adults is currently offering an Associate Degree in Business Administration (.pdf). Additional degree programs will be available in the future.
What makes the College for Working Adults unique?
The College for Working Adults offers accelerated seven-week blocks of instruction instead of traditional 15-week semesters. Each block involves 6-7 credits of study, combining both classroom and online instruction. You will take classes during the fall, spring and summer semesters. By doing so, you can earn an Associate Degree in only 2 1/2 years.
How can I complete a degree in such a short period of time?
The accelerated seven-week courses are taught with adult students like you in mind. You will take one course that meets every Friday night on campus and another course that meets every other Saturday morning, supplemented by online instruction. Other courses will be taught totally online.
What makes the CWA so successful?
Students form a learning community of like-minded adults who help and support each other throughout the program. Personalized attention and academic support that adult students need to succeed are offered by caring faculty and staff. Faculty teaching within each block work together to offer integrated instruction.
What support services are available to students in this program?
An advisor who understands the unique needs of adult students will advise students in the program on academic and transfer issues. In addition, Business Department faculty who teach the CWA courses provide academic advisement to students.
Free tutoring and other support services are available online or in person.
Can my prior college credits be applied to this program?
Credits for courses previously taken at RVCC or at another accredited college or university can be substituted for required courses in the program, if they are equivalent.
