Placement Testing

Students who are seeking a degree are required to take placement tests for reading, writing, and mathematics prior to enrolling. Students do not need to take the reading and writing placement tests if they provide an SAT score report showing a Critical Reading score of at least 540 (or ACT English score of 24), or proof of taking a college level English course, equivalent English placement exam, or at least 24 college credits at a regionally accredited college.

Students do not need to take the math placement test if they provide proof of taking a math course or equivalent math placement exam at another regionally accredited college. An SAT math score of 500 but less than 530 (or ACT math score of 21) will place a student into foundation level Algebra Mod 1, but the student has the option to test for placement into college level math. An SAT math score of 530 but less than 550 (or ACT math score of 22) will place a student into Intermediate Algebra but the student has the option to test for placement into college level math.  An SAT math score of 550 or above (or ACT math score of 23) will place a student in college level math. Student must take the placement test for placement in the Calculus sequence.   Students should consult an academic advisor to determine the appropriate math sequence for their major.  Click here for more information on Placement Testing.
