The professional development courses at Raritan Valley Community College (RVCC) offer a broad selection of affordable training to the community and surrounding region. They range from exam preparation, foreign language, and cooking, to industry demand certifications. Our courses integrate technology with practical application, and are facilitated by a highly qualified and diverse faculty. Professional development courses are also provided at convenient times and locations.

Current Special Programs         

 

Solar Panel Installation

This is an introductory course intended to present the basic material that individuals performing design, self installation and maintenance of a residential solar electric power system, also known as a Photovoltaic system, should know and understand.  Through a combination of hands on labs and lecture the student are introduced to the following:  Working Safely with Photovoltaic (PV) Systems, Conducting a Site Assessment, Selecting a System Design, Adapting the Mechanical Design, Adapting the Electrical Design, Installing Subsystems and Components at the Site, Performing a System Checkout and Inspection, Maintaining and Troubleshooting a System.  The course covers the current tax rebates and incentives available for PV home installations.  Fee includes course textbook and equipment necessary for use during class.

Certified Management Accountant
IMA’s CMA Learning System course combines classroom instruction with textbooks and online, interactive testing components for a comprehensive and customized learning experience in management accounting and finance. The four courses complement the four CMA Exam parts. RVCC offers the following sequence of the CMA series:

 CMA Part 1: Business Analysis   Sep1 9-Oct.  28        Fee: $939 (6 Sessions)
 CMA Part  4: Business Applications    Oct  31- Dec 5   Fee: $939 (6 Sessions)
 

PROJECT MANAGEMENT PROFESSIONAL CERTIFICATION EXAM REVIEW
In today's fast paced world, more and more of our work is done through the creation and execution of projects. The Certificate in Project Management Program, comprised of thirty-six (36) hours of training, delivers practical skills to help you plan, execute and control projects. The Certificate in Project Management Program provides students with the training hours needed to meet the educational requirements for the Project Management Certification. The curriculum is designed to present the nine bodies of knowledge in preparation for the PMP examination.  This educational requirement is just one of several requirements needed to be eligible for the certification.

Accounting Fundamentals
This introductory accounting is designed to provide the student with fundamental knowledge of accounting procedures.  Students become proficient in concepts needed for bookkeeping and accounting terminology used to operate financial software. Students will also learn how
QuickBooks can simplify the accounting process a small business. Participants learn about the set-up for a small business. Learn how to record transactions, understand the reports generated from QuickBooks and understand the components of the financial statements. (Participants should already have knowledge of basic keyboarding.)
