Educational Philosophy

My primary goal in any psychology course is to help students make connections. Students should be able to apply their learning to the living of their lives. I work to enable students to become critical "consumers" of psychology, meaning that they are able to evaluate the research that they read in books, newspapers and magazines or that they watch on TV magazine shows. This transformation of thinking happens when students make the connections between their text, lectures, and discussions and the events happening in their own lives; that is, when psychology is informing their perceptions, understandings and behaviors.
