I believe the study of history should emphasize the events and trends that
affected the lives of both contemporaries and us.
Culture, continuity and the fact we are dealing with the lives and
aspirations of real people should be the focal point of our efforts.
I believe that the study of history does not have to be
"stuffy" or boring. It
can be both a challenging and enjoyable experience.
Finally, the student, after examining both the texts and the source
materials in an objective manner, should be encouraged to formulate
interpretations that are consistent with the evidence.
After obtaining a B.A. in history with minors in cultural anthropology and classical literature, I continued my education at night while working at a major financial institution. In 1990 I began my teaching career. In addition to my efforts here, I have taught history at various New Jersey institutions including Bergen Community College, Ocean County College and William Paterson University. Former students have nominated me twice to appear in Who's Who Among America's Teachers. My wife, Sue, and I, married for twenty-eight years, live with our son, Geoff, and pooch, Ebby, in Monmouth County. . .
