Our Mission: To provide challenging career-oriented undergraduate programs to business and public service students, educating them to the level of competency needed for successful transfer to four-year institutions or immediate career path entry into the global market.


To fulfill its mission, the department promotes the active participation and support of faculty, students, business leaders and other community alliances. The department is committed to providing programs that not only develop professional skills, but also foster entrepreneurial spirit, high ethical standards and civic responsibility.

These A.A.S. Degree Programs offer the dual advantage of preparing students for immediate employment while simultaneously allowing them to accumulate a significant number of transferable credits.

Scholarships

  • Criminal Justice

    RVCC will award two (2) $500 criminal justice scholarships in the Spring 2008 semester. To apply, a student must be enrolled full-time in an RVCC Criminal Justice Degree or related Certificate program and maintain a 3.0 grade point average. Application deadline is March 1, 2008. Applications can be obtained on this site; at the Financial Aid Office; or the Business & Public Service Department Office, Hunterdon Hall, Room H325. references.

     

  • International Business

    Students enrolled in the International Business Degree or Certificate program are eligible to apply for the Axel Velden Memorial Scholarship.  The student must have a 3.0 average or better and must show evidence of community or college service.  The scholarship varies in amount each year.  The scholarship is awarded in early November.  If you are interested in applying for this scholarship, please contact Prof. Ellen Lindemann at 908-526-1200 x8348 or in room H316.
     

  • Paralegal

    The Jean M. Napolitano Memorial Scholarship Award offers one scholarship per year ($1000) to a student interested in a legal career. The scholarship is awarded based on scholastic achievement, leadership ability, and financial need. Click here for additional information and the application.

    The RVCC Paralegal Studies Program offers one scholarship per year to a student who is enrolled or planning to enroll in the Paralegal Studies Degree or Certificate programs. The scholarship offers tuition for one free Paralegal course at RVCC, and $100 towards the purchase of books at the Golden Lions Bookstore. Click here for the application.
     

  • Other

    The United States Achievement Academy (USAA) sponsors the National Collegiate Business Merit Awards, which provide national recognition and scholarship opportunities to deserving students for academic achievement. Students are nominated by faculty, and will receive a biography form from the USAA. Upon completion of the form, students are included in the USAA Collegiate Yearbook. Students will also receive a scholarship application, and the USAA awards 250 cash grants each year.

Competitions

  • Entrepreneurship

    The Global Student Entrepreneur Awards conducts regional competitions all over the USA in conjunction with local Entrepreneurs' Organization chapters. The competition is open to undergraduate-level students who are engaged in entrepreneurial activities. Nominations for student entrepreneurs can be submitted at http://www.gsea.org/nominate.


    For New Jersey students, additional prize money is available. The first place winner will receive $1000; second place $500; third place $300; and fourth place $200. Visit www.fdu.edu/rothman for an application and contest information. The deadline is April 5, 2008.
