CISY 125 – In-Class Lab 1a

Purpose:  The main purpose of this lab is to have you log on to the computer so that we can verify that your network id works.

If you get any error messages, call for your instructor.

Log onto the computer

Overview:  The computers at RVCC are configured in such a way that you have to “Log on” to the Network in order to use the computer.  This prevents someone from using the computer who is not registered for class here at the School.

After you clear the “Network Logon Required” dialog box, you will be prompted with a screen that asks you for your user name and password.

Your username is:  FLLL####

where:

F - first letter of first name

LLL - first 3 letters of last name

#### - last 4 digits of your Social Security #

Example:  John Smith’s username would be:  jsmi6789

If you have never logged on to RVCC before, your password is your Social Security # - No spaces.   No dashes.

Example:  123456789

After you log on for the first time, the computer may say that the password is expired.  If so, click OK then it will prompt you with a dialog box where you will have to provide a new password and confirm it.
