The purpose of this course is to examine historical, philosophical, ethical and legal aspects of nursing practice, contemporary issues facing nursing, and the influence of societal trends on nursing practice and the health care delivery system. Service Learning is a very important component to the educational process. The ability to actively participate in this method of acquiring knowledge - allows the student to be engaged in issues related to a specific area of study. The reward is tenfold - Students become active participants in project development - They learn to identify key issues that need to be addressed and become major contributors in the remediation process. The project outcome has a positive impact on the student's educational development and provides a service to the community. The Service Learning Project Presentations on "Homeland Security" will have the opportunity to be disseminated on the SAFE project web page as well as to the student's designated community. Please review the page as well as some of the projects that have been presented by the nursing students of Raritan Valley Community College.

approval form is submitted to your course professor for approval.

returned. It must then be revised, retyped, and
