Minutes October 24, 2007

The Forum Steering Committee met at 3:35 p.m. in room C205 on October 24, 2007.

Present: Mike Fagan, Chairman, Evelynne Blatt, Stephen Brower, Cyndee Geoffroy, Ellen Lindemann, Aditi Patel, Laurie Reynolds, David Ross, Janice Saam, Annette Skov

Mike welcomed new steering committee member Annette Skov, and then proceeded to present the draft agenda for the Forum’s November 6, 2007 meeting.

Mike asked committee members to review the subcommittee meeting minutes that he regularly sends us for possible discussion items at future meetings.

Ellen Lindemann raised a question regarding subcommittee meetings. There are so many committees in the college and so little free meeting time that it is often impossible to get an entire committee together. Could some committees be combined? Would wider committee membership participation from the college community allow more committees to meet simultaneously? Could we add more college hours to offer more meeting time, or should some committees cut back on the number of meetings they schedule to allow for other committees to meet? After others expressed their concern regarding this issue, Mike suggested that at our next meeting we discuss this item with subcommittee heads.

As an assignment, Mike asked everyone to read the Forum Constitution, as there may be some items that need to be reworded, reworked, updated, discussed, etc.

The meeting was adjourned at 4:10 p.m.
