Columbia University Professor to Speak at RVCC on Non-Fake News

Dr. Michael Schudson, Professor of Journalism at Columbia Journalism School, will speak on “Reclaiming Non-Fake News: Democratic, Professional, Imperfect,” Monday, May 1, at 6:30 p.m., at Raritan Valley Community College.

The event, which is free of charge and open to the public, will be held in the Conference Center at the College’s Branchburg campus. The program is part of a lecture series presented by RVCC’s Humanities, Social Science and Education Department.

Dr. Schudson also is Distinguished Emeritus Professor of Communication at the University of California, San Diego. He has written eight books and co-edited three others on US journalism, politics, and culture. A MacArthur Foundation "genius" Fellow, he has published widely in both academic and popular journals. His most recent works are The Rise of the Right to Know (Harvard University Press, 2015) and, co-authored with C. W. Anderson and Leonard Downie, Jr., The News Media: What Everyone Needs to Know (Oxford University Press, 2016).
