Kathryn Hall

The Raritan Valley Community College (RVCC) Foundation will host An Evening of Elegance for Education, March 16, from 6:30-9 p.m., at The Ryland Inn, 111 Old Highway 28, Whitehouse Station. Hunterdon County’s premier farm-to-table restaurant, The Ryland Inn is inviting its finest wine distributors to showcase more than 70 hand-selected wines from regions around the world for the RVCC Foundation’s fundraising event. Net proceeds will support programs and services that benefit students and faculty at Raritan Valley Community College.

Guests will learn about the wine and wine pairings while enjoying gourmet food prepared by the Ryland Inn's expert chef. Special guest Kathryn Hall, vintner and proprietor of HALL Wines (www.hallwines.com) and WALT Wines, will sign copies of her New York Times bestseller, Perfect Score: The Art, Soul, and Business of a 21st-Century Winery.  Hall and her husband Craig manage seven critically acclaimed estate vineyards in Napa Valley, California. HALL Wines and WALT Wines have won numerous accolades including two 100-point “perfect scores” from the world’s most influential wine critic, Robert Parker.

The public also is invited to join Kathryn Hall from 6-7 p.m. for a private VIP reception, where she will share her personal and expert account of the art, soul, and business of running a modern winery. Guests also will be treated to select Hall wines. At the end of the reception, guests will move to the larger hall for the general wine tasting and purchasing event.

Roman Jewelers of Bridgewater and Flemington, the event’s major sponsor, is donating a stunning piece of jewelry for a raffle drawing. Attendees also may bid on high-end silent auction items including a tasting dinner for two, with wine pairings, at The Ryland Inn.

VIP reception tickets cost $150 per person (the cost includes admission to the entire event). General admission tickets cost $75 per person. Space is limited, so the public is encouraged to register soon.
