The public is invited to attend “Philanthropy in Action: Two Sides of the Coin,” a forum hosted by the Raritan Valley Community College (RVCC) Foundation, Thursday, May 18, from 8:50 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., at the College. Doors open at 8 a.m. for registration, continental breakfast, and networking. The forum will take a fresh look at philanthropy and generosity through the lens of both the donor and the beneficiary. It will be held in the RVCC Conference Center, 118 Lamington Road, Branchburg.

The program is geared toward nonprofit executives, development professionals, board members of nonprofit organizations, donors and philanthropists, estate attorneys and wealth management professionals, as well as anyone interested in learning more about philanthropy.

John Stanley, creator of the Generosity Gameplan™, will deliver the keynote address and discuss the power of transformational giving and the partnerships that can be created between nonprofit leaders and donors. Author of Connected for Good: A Gameplan for a Generous Life, Stanley is an advisor to major donors and strategic grant-makers. He founded The Legacy Group in 1999 to serve donors, foundations and nonprofits.

Panel discussions will feature distinguished leaders in the nonprofit and wealth management sectors. Linda Czipo, President and CEO for the Center for Non-Profits, and Margarethe P. Laurenzi, Director of Leadership Grantmaking and Engagement at the Community Foundation of New Jersey, will discuss the challenges facing nonprofits today; trends and opportunities in giving; and strategies for securing gifts. Ronnie Weyl, Executive Director of the RVCC Foundation, will moderate the panel.

Lynn S. Evans CFP®, President and Chief Executive Officer, Northeastern Financial Consultants; and Robert Milligan Jr. CFP®, CIMA®, Senior Vice President, Wealth Advisor and Senior Investment Management Consultant at Morgan Stanley, will discuss personal wealth management, financial life planning, and vehicles for philanthropic giving. Allan Boomer, Managing Partner, Momentum Advisors, and a member of the RVCC Foundation Board of Directors, will moderate the panel.

The event is being made possible, in part, with support from TD Bank, America’s Most Convenient Bank.
