Top 10 Reasons RVCC Students Succeed

ONE: An Accomplished Faculty
Students receive personalized instruction from accomplished faculty who bring real-world experience, as well as solid academic knowledge, into the classroom. RVCC faculty includes critically acclaimed authors, Fulbright Scholars and Princeton Mid-Career Fellows. More than 50 percent hold doctorate degrees or the highest degree in their field.

TWO: Small Class Sizes
Unlike at larger schools where students are taught in large lecture halls by teaching assistants, at RVCC classes are taught by the professors themselves, who get to know their students. Students will enjoy the advantages of small classes. The average class size is just 19 students.

THREE: Free Tutoring
RVCC students can take advantage of free tutoring services around the clock. At the Academic Support Center students can receive tutoring, as well as assistance in managing time and improving their study skills. Tutoring is also available online.

FOUR: Cutting-Edge Technology
From the state-of-the-art labs in our Science Center and West Building, to our wireless Internet access to our moble app, RVCC is at the forefront in providing students with the latest technological advances. All classrooms are equipped with network connections. Wireless access is available in all campus buildings.

FIVE: Academic Scholarships
The College offers a variety of scholarships based on academic merit and financial need. Our innovative Galileo Scholarship provides faculty mentors and internship opportunities, as well as financial support, for students majoring in science, math, engineering and technology. RVCC’s top students who have a GPA of 3.5 or higher are eligible to tap into more than $37 million in transfer scholarships offered nationally from the Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society, the international honor society for two-year colleges.

SIX: Honors Program
The new Honors College creates a pathway for high-achieving students to enrich their academic experience and enhance their chances of continuing their education at highly selective, academically challenging four-year colleges and universities. Students take 10 honors-level academic courses over two years and gain exposure to leadership opportunities.

SEVEN: Service Learning
RVCC is a national leader in Service Learning, a program that enables students to serve in the community and receive academic credit for their work. Students have an opportunity to volunteer their services to a wide range of community and government organizations. As a result of their experiences, many students continue their commitment to community service long after their participation in the program is completed.

EIGHT: Internships
RVCC students can get real-world experience by participating in a variety of off-campus internship opportunities at area businesses and organizations. Students may hone their skills in such areas as accounting, biotechnology, computers, public relations, and graphic design. Internships—some of which are paid positions—are available throughout the school year and summer.

NINE: Showcasing Accomplishments
At RVCC, education extends beyond the traditional classroom experience. Students have numerous venues to showcase their craft, including art shows, dance and theatre performances and musical concerts. Opportunities are also available for students to have their work judged by professionals in the field. RVCC’s online journal, nota bene, presents the best talent in various disciplines.

TEN: Transfer Opportunities
An RVCC education will prepare students to transfer to the top colleges and universities in New Jersey and across the nation. Seventy percent of RVCC students are enrolled in programs designed to transfer to four-year colleges. RVCC students have transferred to some of the most prestigious universities in the country, including Columbia University, Cornell University, The College of New Jersey, NYU, Drew University and Rutgers University.
