Nick Hollingsworth
(Candidate for President)

Semesters Completed at RVCC:  1
Major:  Pre-Med
Hometown:  Raritan
About Me:   I play in a band and I am a pretty cool guy. Not as cool as The Fonz, but still pretty cool.
Priority if Elected:   I would like to meet with various groups and clubs around the campus and make sure that they are being heard. If anyone has issues or complaints they should feel free to talk to me about them.
Why I Seek the Position:   I think it is our responsibility as students to get as involved in our school as possible. We need to support each other in order to really get something out of this college experience. Becoming president is the best way I could think of to help give back to the school.
Why RVCC Students Should Elect Me:   I'm easy going, but I work hard. I think I can do good things for RV and I am excited about the future. I encourage anyone to find me on campus and talk to me about why I want to become president.
Where do you see yourself in the next 5 years? In 5 years I would like to be either in medical school or on the road touring with my band, The Graduates.

Deanna Nicholson
(Candidate for President of Student Government)

Semesters Completed at RVCC: 4
Major:      International Relations
Hometown: Watchung
About Me: I started going to RV in the fall of 2012. Since my first day on campus, I've been involved through many different organizations and clubs. Last year, I was the Vice President of Finance for the Alliance and the Executive Vice President of Harmonally Balanced. I am currently serving as the Executive Vice President of the Alliance and the President of Harmonally Balanced and the Student Government Representative for both groups. I've participated in and organized many different events on campus and volunteered for many different departments and offices on campus including the Office of Multicultural Affairs and the Admissions Office. I am a hard worker and am extremely thankful for all of the many opportunities that have been offered to me here at RV. My hobbies outside of school include yoga, cooking, music, and short walks on the beach.
Priority if Elected: My first priority if elected is to listen. Everyone on campus has different thoughts and concerns about how to make our campus a better place. Whether you're worried about parking your car or the price of food in the cafeteria, as your President I hope to bring people together to address these issues. Our campus is filled with people that have needs, but it also has ideas and solutions to any of the problems that we face. As President, I will focus on uniting the campus and the community because together, we can do anything!
Why I Seek the Position: I want to be President because I am passionate about RVCC. Our college is full of so many wonderful opportunities that I've been blessed to be a part of. I want to give back to the community by serving, just as the SGA Presidents before me have.
Why RVCC Students Should Elect Me:  I believe that I not only have the experience, but the passion to be the President of SGA because I know when to listen and when to speak up. Helping people has always been my first priority and as President, I would be able to do so to an even fuller potential. I look forward to representing YOUR voice on campus.
Where do you see yourself in the next 5 years?: In the next five years, I see myself graduating with my Masters degree in International Relations. I hope to continue with the volunteer work that I do, both locally and globally. If all goes well, I would like to set up my own international organization that connects people with the resources and help that they need.

John Shantz
(Candidate for President)

Semesters Completed at RVCC: 6+
Major:  Liberal Arts - Business & Liberal Arts - Social Science
Hometown: Bridgewater
About Me: Hello RVCC, My name is John Shantz. As a student here at RVCC I have been involved with clubs and organizations on campus since 2012. Over the course of my time with the BACCHUS club, I served as the club's secretary before going on to serve in my current position as President. The BACCHUS club opened new doors for me, and allowed me the humbling opportunity to receive my certificate in peer education. 2012 was the year that I sat on a panel with NJ senator, Kip Bateman and 2 mothers who had lost their sons to the disease of addiction. We were addressing the "Good Samaritan Bill" which would allow people to call in a drug overdose and not suffer the consequences of saving a life if they were using as well.  This Bill was passed in 2013 and is now known as the "NJ Overdose Protection Act". As time went by and my passion for helping others built, I began to work directly with the college and community through Hunterdon Prevention Resources, as well as the Somerset/Hunterdon SAFE Coalitions. With the help of these organizations, we worked with Harry Hillard to produce an informative documentary on the growing prescription drug & heroin epidemic sweeping over our communities. I personally spoke in this short film titled, Pills2Heroin: The Domino Effect. The documentary is now not only being shown in the nearby area, but extends across the country and even becoming internationally viewed according to Iceland. Words can't describe how it makes me feel to know that I did my part. It is this feeling that motivates and drives my passion to never stop helping others.
Priority if Elected:   If you elect me to represent you, the student body, my first priority as SGA president will be to: listen to, learn from, and progress with each and every student.
Why I Seek the Position: My passion to facilitate the community as a whole, which starts with the individual person, and blossoms into unity among them. I genuinely believe I am the right person for the job.
Why RVCC Students Should Elect Me: If you elect me for SGA president, your voice will never fall on deaf ears. I believe you as an individual deserve the equal right to shape RVCC as you wish to share in the experience.
Where do you see yourself in the next 5 years?: In 5 years I see myself with my Bachelors in both Marketing and Sociology from Rutgers. I would like to be working as an entrepreneur by opening my own marketing firm. I'm pushing 5 years at this point, but I would like to achieve my Masters degree in the social sciences and possibly studying law in Chicago.

Corinne Cronheim

(Candidate for President of Programming Board)

 Semesters completed: 2
Major: Education 5-12
Hometown: South Bound Brook
About Me:  Thank you for showing an interest in voting. If I was voting, I would want to know that my Program Board President is dedicated and hardworking. Although I realize this is my second semester of college, I began RVCC my senior year of high school. Throughout this time I was a part of the National Honors Society, Varsity Tennis, Drama Club, Mock Trial, and Peer Leadership. I received a 4.0 in my classes for the year. If I say I am going to commit to something, no matter how difficult a task, I promise to follow through with 100% of my abilities. As President of The Program Board, I plan to do exactly that. I want to hear feedback from my peers about how events can be more to your liking. I want to make the college not only a place to gain an education, but a place where everyone feels happy and welcome. So I thought to myself, what better way to get involved, make the school a better place for everyone, and have fun in the process than getting involved in the program board? Currently, I am the VP of Information for the group, along with being a member of Harmonally Balanced, being inducted into PTK, and an active full time student. My responsibilities include making agendas for the members, recording our group’s minutes, sending out e-mails to members/interested peers, sharing my ideas to bettering school functions, and helping set up at all events. I would love to add being a part of SGA to the list so that I can take student’s ideas to the next level and put them in motion. I want to add to my current responsibilities more surveys and fun events that make a difference to bettering the lives of RVCC students. Thank you for your time and consideration.
Priority if Elected: If elected, I plan to educate my peers as to what the Program Board does and encourage everyone to get involved. I want everyone to be aware of what is going on around our campus so everybody is a part of each event. I want RVCC to feel like a second home to everyone.
Why I Seek the Position:  I wish to become President of The Program Board because I currently know a lot about how the group is run since I am VP of Information for the group. It is important to me to get the students aware of what’s going on and get their ideas incorporated into the group’s events in order to have a better outcome at each occasion.
Why RVCC Students Should Elect Me: RVCC students should elect me because I am the right person for the job. It isn’t just something I want for my transcript, it is something I want because I’m passionate about bettering my school and community.
Where do you see yourself in the next 5 years?: In the next 5 years I plan to be graduating from a four year school with a teaching degree. My dream is to become an English teacher in a high school. I hope to make a difference to student’s the way that my favorite teachers have helped to motivate me to be where I am today. If I can inspire one person who will inspire somebody else, that will fulfill my dreams.

About Me: I always desired an education but it was simply never an option for me. After residing in a homeless shelter and working as a taxi driver for a number of months I decided that enough was enough. It was time for a change. With a seventh grade education and little resources I began attending Raritan Valley Community College in January of 2012. Now, as I plan my graduation this upcoming May, I reflect back on all that I have accomplished. Thanks to the welcoming arms of the faculty and staff that awaited my arrival, my life has turned around, giving me a sense of stability, support, and opportunity. I have acquired the following prestigious titles during my time here: Student Government Senator, a Phi Theta Kappa member, Student Ambassador, the Educational Opportunity Fund’s spokesperson and mentor, as well as a student worker in the Admissions office. It would be my honor to continue representing my fellow classmates as an Alumni Representative.

Khushwant Pall

(Candidate for Alumni Representative)
Semesters Completed at RVCC: 6+
Major: Business
Hometown: Flemington
About Me: When I first came to Raritan Valley Community College in 2010 I didn’t have a car for two years. I was either dropped off by my sister early in the morning coming home late at night or took a taxi which was very expensive. Since I had no choice but to be on campus and after finishing my school work I started to use my spare time by getting involved on campus. I am a founding executive officer of the Enactus (SIFE), former Student Government Senator, Leadership Series Board member, RBBR Council member, Presidential Search Committee Member, Capital Campaign Chairman (students), Relay for life Co-Chair, Rotaract Member, Model Minority Panelist, Steering Committee member, Technology Committee member, Bookstore Committee Member, Diversity Committee member, Food Advisory Committee Member, and now currently your President of Student Government Association. I work very hard and closely with the board of trustees, executive staff, administrators, and faculty to ensure that the students needs are being met. I like to live my life through servant leadership, because I believe in service to others before myself whether it is in my community, school. All these titles don’t mean anything to me even as your President of SGA, to me it’s what I do with them for others is what matters. It would be my greatest honor and pleasure to continue to represent and assist you as you next Alumni Representative.
Priority if Elected: To serve my student body to the best of my ability by addressing any issues, comments, or concerns that they may have.
Why I Seek the Position: I seek this position because after being heavily involved with the school I want to continue my service to others and represent you in all aspects to the best of my ability.
Why RVCC Students Should Elect Me: If elected I will continue to uphold the college mission statement which includes to embrace diversity, which I demonstrate on a regular basis. If elected I will not only be your alumni representative but also of the first Sikh to become an alumni representative. My religion is Sikhism which is the fifth largest in the world and I was the first of my religion to become an officer/member of any club, organization, or committee, and even as the first Sikh President of Student Government Association in the history of this college. I am someone who takes the initiative in something that I believe and I am very ambitious and dedicated when it comes to pursuing my dreams. From the time that I first started here at RVCC, nothing brings me greater joy than to have known that I’ve made a difference in the lives of others whether as their president, mentor, fellow classmate, or as a friend. My legacy is living a humble life with servant leadership and that the title doesn't mean anything to me, it’s what I do with it is what matters. Thank you and hopefully I earned your vote.
Where do you see yourself in the next 5 years?: In 5 years I live to see myself as a successful businessman with a Masters Degree pursuing more degrees while working because the value of education and knowledge is very important to me. With the knowledge and success that I would like to achieve, I want to help others who unfortunately don't have the resources to be able to pursue their dreams and goals in life. People can take away your materialistic objects, but the one thing that they can't take away is your knowledge which is something that I believe that everyone should have a direct access to.
