Lifelong Education Opportunity (LEO):
Special Programs and Services for Adult Students

The LEO program provides a variety of support services designed to meet the unique needs and varied interests of adult students and those who are considering becoming adult students.

LEO studentA special information session for adults is offered prior to the start of each semester. In a relaxed, welcoming environment, adults are provided with information needed to ease their transition into college. Common concerns such as test anxiety and time management are explored. In addition, discussions are held on the various ways in which students may earn credit for knowledge acquired through life experiences.

The LEO program also provides services to Veterans who are attending the college. We can assist in the certification process for VA Benefits and host a Veterans Information Session prior to each semester.

Adult students frequently are able to earn Credit for Prior Learning by taking CLEP exams, the NYU Foreign Language exam or a Raritan Valley Community College Departmental exam. Additional information is available at the Testing Center.

The LEO News is an electronic newsletter designed to keep adults informed about new programs, important dates and upcoming campus events. This is sent every semester to adult students who are matriculated at the college.

Adult Transfer Night is held in the Spring. Participating colleges have “adult friendly” programs and welcome RVCC adult graduates.
