Financial Aid ~ Applying
Step 1 - Apply
You should apply for financial aid even if you think you won't be eligible. Applying for most forms of financial aid requires you to complete a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). You must re-apply for financial aid each academic year. The FAFSA is the application for Federal and State grants as well as Federal Loans (including the Stafford Loan) and for Federal Work Study. You can complete the FAFSA on line at www.fafsa.ed.gov. If you have already applied for financial aid but not listed RVCC’s school code you can add our school code to your already processed FAFSA. RVCC’s federal school code for the FAFSA is 007731.
In order to apply for RVCC Scholarships students must complete the RVCC Scholarship Application. For more information on scholarships as well as to download the scholarship application, click here.
Step 2 - Review your FAFSA Results
The results of your FAFSA will be returned to you in the form of a Student Aid Report (SAR). Read this document carefully to be sure there are no errors. If you believe that you made errors when completing the FAFSA, you can make the necessary corrections to the SAR and return it for processing, or you can submit documentation supporting your correction to our office and we can make and track the correction for you.
If you or your parents have experienced a significant decrease in income, or have paid unusually large medical expenses this year, we may be able to adjust the information on the FAFSA to reflect your actual situation. You will need to complete a Request for Professional Judgment Form from our Forms Page and submit that along with supporting documentation to our office.
