FYE focuses on several key areas for new students entering RVCC: New Student Orientation, Weeks of Welcome, Success Partners, Student Success Programming, and Early Alert and Intervention.

  • Students begin with the New Student Orientation program called R.O.A.R.S. (Raritan Advising, Orientation, Advising, and Registration Session). At R.O.A.R.S. new students will become familiar with expectations of a college student and how to be successful in college, will meet other new students, learn about Financial Aid and payments options, obtaintheir student I.D. card, and register for their first-semester classes.

  • Weeks of Welcome (W.O.W.) activities are designed to continue the new student orientation process by helping new students feel connected to the RVCC community.

  • The Success Partner Program links new RVCC students to an administrator or staff member on campus. Success Partners serve as a resource for new student questions and concerns during their first year at the college.

  • Student Success Programming will occur throughout the Fall and Spring semesters. The programs are designed to help new students take an active role in their college careers and help them to plan and manage their future goals. Each month will have a theme: September – Welcome Activities; October – Success Strategies, Career Exploration and Transfer Planning; and November – Health and Wellness.

  • Early Alert and Intervention is designed to help identify students who may be experiencing difficulty in their course(s) early in the semester. Faculty members can submit Early Alert notifications during the first four weeks of the semester (including other parts of term) to the FYE office. The Early Alert Form is accessible through the Faculty Tools channel in the Lion’s Den.
  • First-Year Advising sessions take place each semester to help students select their courses for the upcoming semester.

The FYE Office is located on the 1st floor of the College Center in suite C143.  E-mail:fye@raritanval.edu
