FYE focuses on several key areas for new students entering RVCC:
New Student Orientation, Weeks of Welcome, Success Partners, Student Success Programming, and First Year Student Advising, Academic Planning and Career Planning.
Students begin with the New Student Orientation program called R.O.A.R.S. (Raritan Advising, Orientation, Advising, and Registration Session). At R.O.A.R.S. new students will become familiar with expectations of a college student and how to be successful in college, will meet other new students, meet their First-Year Advisor, learn about Financial Aid and payments options, obtain their student I.D. card, and register for their first-semester classes.
Weeks of Welcome (W.O.W.) activities are designed to continue the new students orientation process by helping new students feel connected to the RVCC community.
The Success Partner Program links new RVCC students to an administrator or staff member on campus. Success Partners serve as a resource for new student questions and concerns during their first year at the college Student Success Programming will occur throughout the Fall and Spring semesters. The programs are designed to help new students take an active role in their college careers and help them to plan and manage their future goals.
All first year students are expected to meet with their first year advisor to develop their individual academic and career plan to help identify their plan to graduation and transfer or career opportunities.
