GED Test Information

 

There are five parts to the GED test.  (If you are taking the test in Spanish, there is an additional test.)  All parts are timed and must be completed in two scheduled testing sessions.  Testing must be completed within 30 days of your first tests. If you fail to come to the second session, your test will be scanned for scoring and you will receive an incomplete score.  NO TEST WILL BE ADMINISTERED WITHOUT AN APPOINTMENT.

 

READ ALL DIRECTIONS CAREFULLY BEFORE BEGINNING EACH SECTION OF THE TEST.

Writing (Language Arts) - Minimum passing score: 410

  • Total time - 120 minutes
  • 75 minutes, 50 multiple choice items
  • 45 minutes, write a two-page essay
  • You may return to the multiple choice if finished with essay before time is up.

Math - Minimum passing score: 410

  • Total time - 90 minutes
  • Part I - 45 minutes, 25 items with a Casio fx-260 Solar Calculator (provided). 
  • Part II - 45 minutes, 25 items with NO calculator
  • You may work on both Part I and Part II for the remainder of the 90 minutes if you finish Part II early, but you may not use the calculator.

Science, Reading (Language Arts), Social Studies -Minimum passing score for EACH test is 410.

  • Total time - 215 minutes
  • Science - 80 minutes, 50 items
  • Reading - 65 minutes, 40 items
  • Social Studies - 70 minutes, 50 items

 

All tests are scanned and posted by an outside scoring service.  Once you have completed all of your tests, you will be able to view your scores by logging into www.GED123.org with your individual access code.  Your scores will be available for your review no later than a week after the completion of all of your testing.

In order to pass the GED test, each part of the test must be completed with a minimum passing score and you must have a total minimum score of 2250 for all of the tests.
