Educational
Philosophy
“Teaching is not
the filling of a pail, but the lighting of a fire”
William Butler Yeats
“I believe the
best way to motivate students is to encourage active participation in
the learning process and engage students in the material. Therefore, I
aim to develop courses that focus on important concepts without
intimidating students with detail. I also find that students understand
and remember new material when they can relate the material to something
they already know. Thus, I select examples that are relevant and of
interest to the students, incorporating the most current advances in
science. Throughout all of my courses, I convey my own enthusiasm about
biology.”

Hamlet
(Det
Lille Turneteater)
Friday, March 30, at 10 a.m.
Recommended for grades 7-12
Shakespeare’s
tragedy—fast, riveting and utterly relevant—is performed by two actors
and two double bass players in a fresh, up-to-date version. Without
losing the seriousness and depth of the original play,
four superb
performers create illusions out of almost nothing, playing all the
characters, male and female, with striking flair.
