Information Sessions for
Individuals
considering attending RVCC for a Summer Session or for the Fall Semester
are encouraged to attend a Community
Information Session Wednesday, June 13,
from 5-7 p.m., at Flemington Library.
An academic recruiter
will explain the enrollment process, financial aid options and
opportunities to transfer to a four-year college or university.

Summer Courses
Whether you are still
in high schoo l or will be graduating later this month, you can get a
jump start on your college education this summer at RVCC. The credits
you earn this summer can be applied toward an RVCC education or
transferred to another college. RVCC will be offering a six-week Summer
Session starting July 9.
Courses are offered
during the day, evening or online.

EOF
Information Meetings
Prospective RVCC students interested in finding out more about the
Educational Opportunity Fund Program (EOF) are invited to attend an
information meeting Thursday, June 14, at 9:30 a.m., at the College’s
North Branch Campus. The program will be held in the College Center
(C-133).
EOF is a state grant that provides eligible students with academic and
financial assistance to help them earn their college degree.

Partners
with RVCC

Interested in a career as
a line worker or a substation electrician? RVCC is partnering with First
Energy to offer an Associate of Applied Science Degree in Electric
Utility Technology. Last month seven RVCC students graduated from the
program, which prepares students for long-term employment opportunities
in a variety of electrical fields, with an emphasis in the line
worker/substation area. The curriculum prepares students for hands-on
transmission support system installation/maintenance and electrical
substation maintenance.
Classes are taught at
RVCC’s North Branch Campus and at a FirstEnergy facility located near
the College.
Beginning in the Fall 2007
Semester, qualified students enrolled in the two-year Power Systems
Institute program will receive free tuition, including College fees,
books and required protective clothing.

Professional Development Opportunities |

Graduate Writing Course
for Teachers
The RVCC
University Center, along with Centenary College, is offering a
three-credit graduate course in the teaching of writing this
summer. “Introduction to the Writing
Agenda” will be held at
RVCC’s North Branch Campus on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday,
July 10-26, from 9 a.m.-3 p.m.
A second
course, “Applications,” is scheduled for the Fall, leading to a
12-credit Certificate in the Teaching of Writing. The Agenda is
a response to the reports of the Commission on Teaching Writing
in America’s Schools and Colleges, The Neglected ‘R’
(2003) and School Reform (2006).

The New Jersey
Astronomy Center for Education
(NJACE) at
RVCC offers a wide range of professional development opportunities, as
well as in-service training, in earth science and astronomy for teachers
of grades K-12. All workshops meet the New Jersey Science Standards and
help teachers prepare their students for the ASK4, the GEPA and the HSPA.

Theatre at RVCC |

It’s not too early to beginning planning for the fall. Consider bringing
your class to one of the Theatre at RVCC’s many productions for older
children and teens. The Theatre offers a variety of performances for
every taste, from acrobatics and percussion to musical theatre and
opera. Professional educators, with school ID, can receive a 50
percent educator discount on up to four tickets per show.
