Information Sessions for
RVCC will be
offering a series of information sessions for prospective students at
various locations this spring.
Individuals
considering attending RVCC for a Summer Session or for the Fall Semester
are encouraged to attend a Community Information Session. The sessions
will provide information about the wide variety of degree and
certificate programs RVCC offers that can prepare students for today’s
hottest careers. Participants will also learn about the College’s
flexible scheduling options, including online and accelerated programs.
Participants will
have the opportunity to meet with an academic recruiter who will explain
the enrollment process, financial aid opportunities and help interested
students chart a career path. The following sessions will be offered:

Prospective RVCC
students interested in finding out more about the Educational Opportunity
Fund Program (EOF) are invited to attend an information meeting this
spring. EOF is a state grant that provides eligible students with
academic and economic assistance to help them earn their college degree.

International President
of Honor Society

RVCC student
Casey Maliszewski of Stockton has
been named international president of Phi Theta Kappa, the international
honor society for two-year colleges. The organization has more two
million members and 1,200 chapters. Its members excel in both academics
and community service.
Maliszewski, 22, was elected
international president during the organization’s 89th International
Convention, held last month Nashville, Tennessee. Maliszewski, who is
past president of RVCC’s Phi Theta Kappa chapter, also serves as the
organization’s New Jersey state president. She is also vice-president of
membership for RVCC’s Phi Theta Kappa chapter.

Theatre at RVCC
Offers Educational Program
Learn about the
many educational offerings available at The Theatre at RVCC during
“Tickets to Success,” May 11, at 4 p.m., a t
RVCC’s North Branch Campus. The program will offer information about
programs for students in grades Pre-K to 12, as well as professional
development opportunities for educators.

Summer
Institute on
Social Justice
RVCC will
host the RVCC Summer Institute on Social Justice: Confronting
Racism, June 25-28, from 9 a.m. to 3 p .m.,
at the College’s North Branch Campus.
The
hands-on Institute, offering print, web-based and cinematic
resources, is designed for teachers of grades 6-12 to help
fulfill the Holocaust, Genocide and Amistad mandates of the
State of New Jersey. The program includes interactive exercises
and guest speakers. In addition, the Institute includes
information about student Service Learning projects and options
for publishing and disseminating best practices. Workshop
participants receive 20 Professional Development Hours. A
stipend is also being offered for teachers.

The New Jersey
Astronomy Center for Education
(NJACE) at
RVCC offers a wide range of professional development opportunities, as
well as in-service training, in earth science and astronomy for teachers
of grades K-12. All workshops meet the New Jersey Science Standards and
help teachers prepare their students for the ASK4, the GEPA and the HSPA.

RVCC offers a variety of performances for every taste, from acrobatics
and percussion to musical theatre and opera.

Consider bringing your class to see one of the
Theatre’s many productions for older children and teens. Professional
educators, with school ID, can receive a 50 percent educator discount on
up to four tickets per show.
