Raritan Valley Community College's Arts & Design department will present the 16th Annual RVCC Juried Art Students Exhibition, November 1-29, in the Art Gallery at the College’s Branchburg campus. The exhibition is being coordinated by Darren McManus, Assistant Professor and Art Gallery Director.

An opening reception and awards ceremony will be held at the RVCC Art Gallery on Friday, November 1, from 5-7 p.m. Refreshments will be served.

Artwork completed by students in the College’s Arts & Design department during the past year—since the Fall 2018 Semester—will be featured in the juried show. The artwork will include a wide variety of media including ceramics, painting, drawing, sculpture, graphic design, multimedia, photography, illustration, interior design, video and printmaking.

Each student was permitted to submit up to three pieces of artwork for consideration. The guest juror for this year’s exhibition is Mike Richison, a multimedia artist and Assistant Professor in the Department of Art and Design at Monmouth University. Richison will evaluate all the entries, make the final selections for the exhibition and determine the award winners.

Mike Richison is currently teaching motion graphics. Richison’s personal work spans a variety of disciplines, including sculpture, graphic design, and interactive video. Most recently, his work was included in the following group exhibitions: More Than A Feeling at Raritan Valley Community College; Nuance: Craftsmanship, Imagination and Innovation at Peters Valley School of Craft; and his interactive installation “Spin Stack” was featured among other kinetic works in A Cache of Kinetic Art: Simply Steampunk at the Morris Museum and in two New York City public art festivals, “Dusklit” and “Figment.” Before moving to New Jersey in 2007, he lived in the Detroit, Michigan area for several years after completing his MFA from Cranbrook Academy of Art.

Gallery hours for the RVCC Juried Art Students Exhibition are Mondays, 3-8 p.m.; Tuesdays, 10 a.m.-3 p.m.; Wednesdays, 3-8 p.m.; Thursdays, 10 a.m.-6 p.m.; and Fridays, 1-4 p.m. On Friday, November 1, the Art Gallery will not open until 5 p.m. For further information, contact Arts & Design, 908-218-8876.
