Raritan Valley Community College (RVCC) in Branchburg and New York School of Interior Design (NYSID) in New York City have signed a new agreement that will allow RVCC students to seamlessly transfer to NYSID to complete their bachelor’s degree.

According to the agreement, students who receive an Associate of Science Degree in Interior Architecture and Design from RVCC may transfer into NYSID’s Bachelor of Fine Arts in Interior Architecture program, as long as they fulfill certain degree requirements including submitting a portfolio for review. According to the new agreement, students may transfer up to 66 credits earned at RVCC to NYSID’s program.

“The New York School of Interior Design has been the top choice for many of our graduates moving on to their bachelor’s degree, and NYSID has been very supportive and diligent about credit transfers—really working with the students in the application process,” said Virginia Smith, RVCC Associate Professor and Coordinator of the College’s Interior Architecture and Design program.

“NYSID is consistently rated as one of the best interior design schools, and the job placement rate for graduates is extremely high. I am looking forward to a continued successful relationship with NYSID and the opportunities this agreement gives our students,” Smith continued.

“The New York School of Interior Design is pleased to provide aspiring designers from Raritan Valley Community College a smooth pathway into NYSID’s academic programs,” said NYSID President, David Sprouls. “NYSID has been educating the future leaders of interior design for over 100 years, and we are excited to open new doors for talented and promising students. This partnership between Raritan Valley Community College and the New York School of Interior Design will foster a working relationship and allow us to share resources, and provide opportunities to talented students from diverse backgrounds, as well as encourage students to continue their education for personal and professional development.”
