Pianist Anastasia Dedik to Perform Benefit Concert
The Raritan Valley Community College (RVCC) Arts & Design department will present a performance featuring concert pianist Anastasia Dedik, Sunday, November 14, at 2 p.m.
The event, which is open to the public, will be held in the Nash Theatre at RVCC’s Branchburg campus and also will be streamed live at https://www.facebook.com/RVCCMusic. Masks are required in all RVCC facilities and social distancing will be followed.
The concert will feature the following program: Sheep May Safely Graze (J.S. Bach; arranged by Egon Petri); Sonata Op. 27 No. 2, “Moonlight” (L. van Beethoven); Reminiscences of the Theater (L. Desyatnikov); and three pieces by F. Chopin: Nocturne Op.15 No. 2 in F-sharp major, Op. 31 in b-flat minor, and Waltz Op. Posthumous in e-minor.
The performance is part of the department’s MOZAIKA Concert Series, launched in fall 2020 to help defray the cost of private instructional lessons for RVCC music majors. The series is designed to promote multicultural dialogue through the performance of music from the classical canon through the 21st Century.
Anastasia Dedik has been performing as a soloist and chamber musician on some of the most important stages in the world, including the Kennedy Center, Carnegie Hall, The Great Philharmonic Hall in St. Petersburg, Russia, and many others. Described as “flawless and memorable” by the New York Concert Review, Dedik has appeared as a soloist with Fort Worth Symphony, Saint Petersburg Philharmonic, NYCA Symphony Orchestra, San Jose Symphony, and the Oberlin Orchestra. She has been featured on RAI TV in Italy, NDR TV in Germany, WABC in NYC, as well as on NBC. She is a top prize-winner of many international piano competitions, including the Bösendorfer and Yamaha USASU International Piano Competitions, the San Jose International Piano Competition, and the Pietro Argento International Piano Competition.
A post-performance discussion with the artist will follow the program. The concerts in the MOZAIKA Concert Series are free of charge, but donations are accepted and will go to the RVCC Applied Music Fund to help the College’s music majors pay for private lessons on their primary instruments.
