Raritan Valley Community College’s Arts & Design department will present the fall Studio Student Production of Autumn Shorts by H.W. Boggs, November 2-5, at 7 p.m. The production, which is free of charge and open to the public, will be held in the Welpe Theatre at the College’s Branchburg campus.

The one-act play features five comic scenes exploring autumnal themes of love, loss, and gratitude. The scenes all take place at various park benches with the first scene, Kevin’s Dream, starting in early September and the last scene, Ash Sunday, occurring on the Sunday after Thanksgiving. The following scenes comprise Autumn Shorts:

•    Kevin’s Dream depicts a boyfriend and girlfriend sorting out their relationship as they are about to leave for different colleges. A little brother enters the scene with a serious revelation.

•    Pumpkin Patch deals with an eccentric high school senior who is questioning why her best friends suddenly are more into boys than the fall festivities they all used to partake in each season.

•    Worth the Fight is a comic scene involving an African American father’s emotional plea to his son and his son’s white friend after they get into trouble for egging people on Mischief Night.

•    Thanksgiving Blues follows Hank, a recent widow celebrating his first Thanksgiving after his wife’s passing, at a rehabilitation center while healing from a fall at home.

•    Ash Sunday is a comedy involving a mother and her two college-aged children following their father’s wishes by spreading his ashes in the woods of Harrison State Park.

The show is under the direction of Dennis Russo. The cast and crew include: Matthew Perez, Deborah Fonteix,  Shelly Bernard, CamRon Wallace, Max Warner, Katherine Semon, Curtis Glover, Joseph McDevitt, Fio Grimaldi, Ashley Cabral, Jacob Schueller, Kelly Deo, Marcus Hernandez, Genevieve Tenney, Holly Coviello, Al Myszkin, Liam Donnelly, Hannah Fey, and  Marcus Donegun.
