SINGERS SOUGHT FOR RVCC CHORALE
Local singers are invited to audition for the RVCC Chorale (formerly known as the Central Jersey Master Chorale), a performance group composed of both community members and students at Raritan Valley Community College (RVCC). All voice types?soprano, alto, tenor and bass?are needed for the group, which performs choral repertory from many centuries.
The chorale rehearses on Monday nights, from 7:20-10 p.m., in the Arts building (room A-33), at RVCC?s North Branch Campus.
The chorale, formerly directed by Roger Briscoe, will begin its first season under new director Dr. John Sichel of Mountainside. Dr. Sichel is a well-known artist who has composed extensively in many genres. His most recent compositions include a clarinet quintet, five piano sonatas and a sonata for piano, four-hands, as well as a number of songs and short choral works. His music is published by Puna Music and Ludwig Music, as well as his under his own label, Great Horned Music.
Dr. Sichel received a Doctor of Musical Arts degree from the Yale School of Music. He teaches theory, composition, piano, music history and rock-and-roll history at RVCC.
The group?s winter concert, featuring Schubert's Mass in G Major, as well as a variety of holiday music, is scheduled for Friday, December 14, at 8 p.m., in the College?s Welpe Theatre. A dress rehearsal will be held the previous evening.
Those interested in participating in the chorale should contact Dr. Sichel at email@example.com or 908-218-8876. Singers may also come prepared to audition at the first rehearsal on Monday, September 10, from 7:20-10 p.m., in the RVCC Arts building (room A-33).
