RVCC CHORALE TO PERFORM IN CONCERT
The RVCC Chorale will perform an all-English program Saturday, May 2, at 3 p.m. Conducted by Dr. John Sichel, the concert will be held in the Welpe Theatre at Raritan Valley Community College?s North Branch Campus.
The first half of the program will feature motets, madrigals and folk songs spanning six centuries. Pieces to be performed include Ralph Vaughn Williams? haunting ?Ca' the Yowes,? set to the poetry of Robert Burns, and William Byrd?s luminous ?I Will Not Leave You Comfortless.?
The second half of the program will offer excerpts from Gilbert and Sullivan?s The Mikado . Members of the Chorale will be featured in favorite arias and ensembles from the comic masterpiece, including ?The Sun and I,? ?A More Humane Mikado...? and ?I Am So Proud.?
The Chorale is composed of current and former RVCC students, as well as members of the community. Performers include sopranos Rachel Coburn, Kasey Thompson, Jane Peppard and Pat Babinski; altos June Adams, Deborah Allen, Anna Nierenberg, Jane Sausanauvage and Erica Kane; tenors Jeff Stier, Timothy Danner, Matthew Czuba and Jesse Mazzariello; and basses Joseph Pierone, Joseph Babinski, Joseph Spadavecchia, Chris Birnbaum, Peter Dodenhoff, Jake Vreeland, Rob Sefack, Estefan Higazi, Michael Rosinksi and Daniel Keegan. The group is accompanied on piano by Stephen Hudson.
