Raritan Valley Community College visual arts student Rachel Floden has designed a mural for a project completed by students from Alexander Batcho Intermediate School (ABIS) in Manville.

The mural, which began in August, is pictured on three walls of the Manville community swimming pool shed.

Floden worked tirelessly with approximately 20 Manville students to come up with a design and act as the main artist to guide the process from start to finish. She was joined by teaching artists Sarah Anunciacao and Meredith Kane. The colorful mural features such images as beach chairs, a sun umbrella, sea creatures, and underwater vegetation.

Led by Ji Yong Kim, RVCC Assistant Professor in the Arts & Design department, and Alexis Gonzalez, the founder and co-chair of At Reach, a Somerset Community Action Program Initiative, the project is being supported by the Somerset Community Action Program, the Somerset County Youth Services Commission, and Manville Parks & Recreation.

RVCC is located at 118 Lamington Road in Branchburg, NJ. For further information, visit www.raritanval.edu.
