audience watching performance

Raritan Valley Community College’s Visual and Performing Arts Department will present a student theatre production of Craig Pospisil’s Somewhere in Between, November 16-19, at 7 p.m. All performances will be held in the Welpe Theatre at the College’s Branchburg Campus.

Somewhere in Between is a contemporary, sharply crafted romantic comedy in which the “laughs come easily and frequently,” according to City News.  In 10 comic scenes, the cast of 11—playing multiple roles—takes us inside Jasper’s world of isolation, fear of uncertainty, and sense of impending doom. Jasper takes his “lumps” in an elevator, the subway, a bookstore, a restaurant, and at work before a chance encounter with a homeless man provides needed perspective. With that and with the joy of finally making contact with the lovely Holly, he learns he can survive (and maybe even thrive) without a guarantee in his life.

The play is being directed by Danielle Barry of Somerville, Adjunct Associate Professor. Technical direction is by David Porter (Clinton Township) and Kenny Savoy (Piscataway), with Grace Lamport (Califon) acting as stage manager. Additional technical crew includes Matt Binkowitz (Westfield), Aaron Choynake (Raritan), Daniel Hogan (Martinsville), Tyler Lozano (Branchburg), Joe Petrella (Basking Ridge), Laura Ryan (Oxford), and James Van Patten (Whitehouse Station).

The cast consists of Chris Esmerado (Basking Ridge), Jessica Fabiano (Ringoes), Paige Hann (Harmony), Morgan Hope (Martinsville), Fred Lopatosky (North Plainfield), Gesinia Marcano, (Somerset), Natallee Mira (Whitehouse Station), John Pizzigoni (Green Brook), Mary Puleo (Pittstown), Brandon Roche (Manville), and Hugo Veliz (North Plainfield).

General admission tickets cost $12 each, $8 for students and seniors. Tickets are available at the RVCC Theatre Box Office, Monday-Friday, 11 a.m.-4 p.m., or call 908-725-3420. For further information, contact the Visual and Performing Arts Department, 908-218-8876.
