Raritan Valley Community College Professor of Business William Klinger has developed collaboration exercises that demonstrate the challenges of working together as a group. The exercises, which are conducted while participants play electronic games using a “clicker,” assist with team-building and allow students to enjoy themselves while seeing business concepts in action.

Professor Klinger employs the exercises—which include variations of Pong, Maze, a Pattern game, and another where participants need to cooperate to drive a car—as part of his Introduction to Business, Principles of Management, and Business Simulation Seminar courses.

He also has worked with Planetarium staff to have his students play the games in their area, utilizing a space theme where an astronaut must get through a maze. The experience has been extremely positive and a wonderful example of interdepartmental work between the Planetarium and academic classes.
