RVCC to Present Solo Exhibition of Paintings by Faculty Member

Raritan Valley Community College’s (RVCC) Visual and Performing Arts Department will present Topography, a solo exhibition of paintings by RVCC faculty member Wes Sherman, October 3-21. The exhibition will be on display in the Art Gallery at the College’s Branchburg Campus. Sherman, a resident of Denville, has been an adjunct professor in RVCC’s VAPA Department since 2003.

An artist’s talk will be held in the Art Gallery on Thursday, October 6, from 5-6 p.m. A reception will follow from 6-7 p.m. Both are free of charge and open to the public. Refreshments will be served.

Topography will feature landscape paintings that examine the physical or natural features of an object or entity and its structural relationships.

Artist Wes Sherman has been painting since 1992 and has had more than 35 solo shows. The chair of exhibitions at The Center for Contemporary Art in Bedminster, Sherman has been a visiting artist at many universities including Temple, Rutgers, and Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts. In 2011 he received a fellowship for painting from New Jersey Council on the Arts. Sherman received his MFA from Mason Gross School of the Arts at Rutgers University in 2003.

Gallery hours for the exhibition are Mondays, 3-8 p.m.; Tuesdays, 10 a.m.-3 p.m.; Wednesdays, 3-8 p.m.; Thursdays, 10 a.m.-6 p.m.; and Fridays, 1-4 p.m. For further information, contact the Visual and Performing Arts Department, 908-218-8876.
